ATAKOY MARINA, ISTANBUL

Embedded in the fantastic Tabanlioglou architects team for the umpteenth time. Getting the chance to do retail (as so often) but also a 1km seawall linear park, a full terrestrial Park, several Ha of roof gardens and a number of vibrant urban squares.

SCHIPOL AIRPORT CBD

Working with Portland Design we go to create the newest open air break out space in Schipol Airport. Always fun to integrate your work with the precedents you had aspired to when a student.

LANDSCAPE MEMORIALS

Designing for a joint venture with the Forestry Commission to bring beautiful, subtle memorials stunning rural sites. About 20 of these are planned up and down the country using the forest estates best views and using the process to rebuild historic walls and make isolated sites personal and a part of family histories

NATIONAL STONE COLLECTION

A dramatic and informative stone collection of all dimension stone in the UK. Designed as an educational resource for students of geology, geography, architecture and the natural sciences. We'll get this one underway properly when we get a bit of space in the daily programme.

PORTSMOUTH UNIVERSITY MEMORIAL GARDEN

Placed and created a low key stylish contemporary memorial garden in the grounds of the University. The garden to commemorate staff and students organises and replaces the ad-hoc memorial process that had previously been a disappointment

DURRINGTON CEMETERY WORTHING

A large now extension to the towns historic Victorian Cemetery. The brief was to resolve a number of the sites historic spoil problems whilst creating a peaceful place of reflection based on the native flora of the South Downs.

Another chance to work with Faulkner Brown on their World Championship venue in Dubai. It all went swimmingly.

GOLDEN TOWER, JEDDAH, KSA

WESTOWN CAIRO

Enlightened commissioning from SODIC/Solidere had craft:pegg leading the landscape development and writing the Urban Design development briefs for the plots as well as designing all open spaces.

HOUSING

Seems to have been a stock in trace over recent years, lots of podium decks and tight BREEAM friendly garden design for new residential blocks across London and the South East,

DOVER ESPLANADE

Made the final cut of the CABE competition to dramitically re-vision Dovers promenade. This comprised a beach extension along the new harbour arm enlivened by new buildings and water access along sculpturally re-interpreted groynes, providing defence, access and character. We might even see some of these in the new waster front master plan (no credit would be typical though).

LINES OF COMMUNICATION

We found the forgotten Civil War fortification of London, so we built a concrete model..... the map model was on display in Spitalfields and even got ranked as one of the top 500 pieces of public art... in the world.... ever.... not bad to be lined up alongside the Sphinx and Trevi Fountain....

JUMIERAH LAKES TOWERS

Dubai at it's most Dubai, 75 tower block bases and we had to differentiate them with 24 unique parks and squares. We recast the lake edge created pools terraces groves and play grounds. The client got our fees back several times over when we made their parking more efficient....

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC STORE,
REGENTS STREET, LONDON

As a part of the RIBAs Regent Street windows project craft:pegg were partnered with the National Geographic Store because "Let's face it guys, nobody does maps better than you". OK we like maps but Mr Mercator was a bit better in our view. Received plaudits galore, more column inches than other windows baby.... still just a pretty combination of green walls and yellow mag stacks in a matrix of recycled tubes. Pretty and Green, that's us.

MERCATI GENERALI, ROME

Sorting out retail with open space character with the ever brilliant Portland. Portland recognised the need for the whole creation of Romes Covent Garden to be centred on the open spaces, so we and Mr Nolli obliged, helping OMA to retail perfection....

HAZMIEH GARDEN CITY

A garden village in the hills overlooking Beirut. Previously abandoned by the Syrian army artillery this former hospital site was to become the core of a new high end housing development. craft:pegg was tasked with block layouts and open space design, taking the tenants of the Garden Village movement to the Levant. Fun and some interesting anecdotes about fleeing men with guns..........

GUN POWDER PARK.

undertaken whilst at LDA, loads of craft:pegg language was developed here, check out the paving joints and non-vertical elements, you can probably spot their evolution into Grand Canal Square and later Splash Point. Same designer, different corporate credit which is definitely LDA

GRAND CANAL SQUARE, DUBLIN, EIRE.

definitely an MSI project. John and Paula were on point with Tiros in Dublin. Red paving and funky lights are us....

ST. MARY'S UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, LONDON

Urban campus design at Mo Farah's alma mata. A great new public Square as well as a campus wide landscape master plan and Student Union revival.

SPLASH POINT, WORTHING

Competition winning public paza redefining Worthings promenade. The scheme took a skanky parking lot and made it into a contemporary play and relaxation space for all ages. The space is credited with turning around the fortunes of the area now a Boho hang out with artists and foodies hangin out alongside frolicking kids and mountain bikers all under a man made rainbow available at the touch of a button (well stamp on a footpad)

WHITEWATER, NEWBRIDGE. EIRE.

CLAREMONT FAN COURT SCHOOL

Vanburg, Repton..... craft:pegg.

Well we didn't have quite the impact of the other two. Working with McDowell and Benedetti to bring the historic grounds forward as a setting for a 21st century school.

FANHAMS HALL, HERTFORDSHIRE

Formerly a training centre for Sainsburys. John worked on this as an embryonic landscape architect for the not famous enough HIGSON PEARSON. a genius practice that taught John all the good stuff he knows. Not much to say other than it was a blast and thank you for the break... Thank you Pirkko and Stuart. Naturally FAnhams Hall helped Higson Pearson sweep the board with pretty much every award gong in the early 90's.

COMMONWEALTH WAR MEMORIAL, DOVER.

Conceived and developed by craft:pegg since 2006 the craft:pegg copyrighted and authored design received a grant from the Libor fund which is now taking the project forward to planning.

THAMES ARCHIPELAGO

Another Competition win, this time for the inaugural RIBA Forgotten Spaces Competition. What is London's most significant forgotten space.... the Thames obviously a vast plane that runs from suburb to centre that was the city's raison d'etre crowded from shore to shore with commerce and activity. the archipelago is a chain of floating islands some for ecological benefit and some commercial and soe simple human habitats running in a chain through our home city.
