Originally graduating in Geography and Geology John's design career began as a core team member of one of the UK's top craft oriented landscape architectural practices, Higson Pearson. Having gained Masters degrees in Landscape Architecture from both US and UK institutions John went into commercial practice focussing on resort and campus design as a team member of significant global practices. Having gained a significant amount of international experience to compliment years of working in the UK development sector John established the London branch of Martha Schwartz Partners. After several years of winning and leading high profile projects in the UK and elsewhere, John and Paula struck off on their own to form craft:pegg whilst simultaneously holding academic appointments in UK Universities.
Within the structure of craft:pegg John has led urban, art and landscape projects. A key focus has been educational and retail environments around the world. Throughout this period and through most of the projects Johns interest in and talent for the adaptive re-use of heritage sites and contemporary design has been a key anchor.
Johns expertise encompasses, Park Design, Campus Design, Retail Environments, Adaptive Reuse of Heritage Assets, Destination Development and Residential Landscapes. John is a regular member of the South East Design Review panel advising on the full spectrum of design aspects presented by some of the countries most challenging developments.
